We were honored to host our very first Scholarship Ceremony, recognizing four remarkable young people pursuing careers in fire and emergency service. Each recipient received a certificate and scholarship check to support their education and their calling to serve. We could not be prouder to introduce our 2026 scholars and to help carry forward Kyle Trombly's legacy of service.

Andrew Yao - Fire Science: Firefighter I
Andrew holds a 3.71 GPA and has earned both his Fire Academy Certification and EMT training. He serves as a specialist with the American Red Cross Service to the Armed Forces and International Services Department, deploying alongside the U.S. military to support service members during family emergencies. That work drew him toward emergency medical and fire service, where he values understanding the "why" behind every procedure.
"Receiving the Kyle Trombly scholarship would not only help me to keep learning the why, but it would greatly help my financial situation while working for a nonprofit organization."

Boston Sprague - Fire & Advanced EMT; Applied Science in Paramedicine
Boston holds a 3.63 GPA and has earned his Fire Academy Certification. He volunteers as a skills instructor at Warren Tech, helping the EMT trainer teach students how to perform and manage tasks in emergency medical services. He plans to continue his education toward a bachelor's degree in emergency medical services and paramedicine.

Finley Malabanan - Fire & Emergency Response Administration, Human Services, and Counseling; Minor in Nutrition
Finley holds a 3.79 GPA at Metro State University while also attending Red Rocks. For two years he has worked as a behavior therapist at Kyo Care, supporting children with autism through thoughtful, evidence-based care and a genuine commitment to the people he serves. He has spoken openly about a personal journey of loss and renewed purpose — the path that led him toward the fire service, where he hopes to be the steady, compassionate presence he once needed himself.

Blake Drnec - Fire Science & Emergency Services
Blake holds a 3.75 GPA and has earned his Fire Academy Certification, EMT, and Hazmat Operations & Awareness, in addition to a bachelor's degree from Colorado State University. He volunteers at Easter Seals Colorado – Rocky Mountain Village, caring for campers with special needs around the clock during camp. Blake also carries a special connection to our foundation: through ride-alongs with the Arvada Fire Protection District, he shared a shift alongside Kyle Trombly at Station 1 — a single day that became a lasting memory.
To Andrew, Boston, Finley, and Blake — congratulations. You are exceptional young adults, and we look forward to following your careers and cheering you on. This scholarship reflects our confidence in you and our commitment to supporting you as you carry forward Kyle's legacy of service.
